Scholarship Application


Two $500 Cross Country Scholarships will be awarded to a senior male and a senior female runner. Runners must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to receive the scholarship.
  • The candidate must be a runner on the Northwest Guilford High School Cross Country team and a member of the Northwest Guilford High School Cross Country Booster Club.
  • The candidate must be accepted into a two- or four-year program. The funds will be paid to the school the recipient will be attending.  
  • The candidate must have a weighted GPA of at least 3.0.
  • The candidate must submit one letter of recommendation. This letter cannot come from family members or coaches at Northwest Guilford High School.  Details regarding submission of your letter are detailed below. 
  • The candidate must submit an essay with the application.  Details regarding this essay are detailed below.  
  • The candidate will not have had any disciplinary action taken against them by school officials.
  • The completed application (including essay and letter of recommendation) is to be submitted via this website or before May 1, 2019.
  • The scholarship recipient will be chosen by the Northwest Guilford High School Scholarship Committee. This Committee is appointed by Northwest Guilford High Administration and does not include members of the cross country booster board, members of the booster club or coaches.
Candidates will be asked to write an essay of 500 words or less explaining what you have learned from your participation with Northwest Guilford Cross Country and how those lessons will aid you in your future endeavors. (We recommend you write the essay prior to filling out the application below and copy/paste when ready.)
Applicants are required to submit one letter of reference from an adult.  All reference letters must be scanned and uploaded to our website using our upload tool (in gray box below).  Students should upload these letters rather than asking for it to be done by the person writing the reference.  Files must be labeled with Applicant's name, example: "John Doe Reference Letter."  No hard copies will be accepted. Applications are not considered complete until reference letters are submitted. Please be sure to use the same email address when uploading your reference letter as the application. 
Applications are online and available only on the NWHS PTSO website.  Applications must be submitted electronically.  No written applications will be accepted.  
Applications are due May 1, 2019.  
The winners will be announced at Senior Awards in May 2019.
